Bonnet Creek

On Sunday, we have moved to another resort in Orlando...Bonnet Creek.  Bruce left shortly after we got checked in to go to Lexington to Richard's funeral.
Teri & Zoe arrived around 10:30 last night so we didn't get to bed until midnight.  Today we went to Downtown Disney and had lunch at Splitsville and then walked around the area.
 The Lego sculptures are amazing!

Zoe learns about trading pins with some of the staff.

 Zoe & I rode the Merry-go-Round.

Then Zoe went to the Bibbity Bobbity Boo Salon and was turned into a princess.

Her fairy godmother beautician was wonderful..talking about characters and telling princess stories all the while she worked on Zoe.

               "Before"                                      Rapunzel                                                 "After"

Later this evening I picked Bruce up at the airport.  Zoe got to bed at a reasonable hour and all is well.
Tomorrow Zoe & Teri go to the Magic Kingdom and Zoe has lunch with the Princesses.

Celebration again

Saturday we revisited Celebration on our bikes.  Found some places we'd missed the last time.
 Fountain play area.

View from the bike path around the little lake.

Boardwalk through the preserve area - went on forever - must have been at least 1/2 mile.

Weird looking duck!

Finding Nemo

Hope Nemo is found up north to give all our snow loving friends some winter activities.  Meanwhile Bruce & I enjoyed a nice 2 hour kayak paddle this morning up at the Butler Chain of Lakes.  We paddled over to Lake Butler but it was a little choppy so we paddled over to Lake Tibet and that was a little better.  Not smooth like glass but a nice light breeze to make the high 70 temps comfortable.
Last night we enjoyed another evening of "Hand & Foot" cards with Linda & Tom.  They leave this resort tomorrow and we leave Sunday but we are all staying in this area so have plans to meet up with them next week for one more game night before they head on to Hilton Head.
Bruce leaves for Lexington KY on Sunday and returns Tuesday.

Lake Down

Tuesday we did a bike loop that traveled along major roadways for most of it.  We rode on sidewalks and on the shoulder where there was one.  It was a good ride - nice ride through the village of  Windermere.  The beautiful houses (mansions) are much prettier from the water. From the road there are fences, walls or shrubbery that block the views. Today we rode the same loop but went in the opposite direction. Nice part was we were able to bicycle right from the resort.

On our bike ride we found a new boat launch on Lake Down.  We put in there yesterday (Bruce had a 1/2 mile hike to park the car and then go get it after we launched).
View of a Church of the Latter Day Saints Temple.
It is very impressive!
 These homes (mansions) are amazing.
Fun to see from the water.
As we paddle around, we do think of you who are up north enjoying winter.
We enjoy our winter too!

Richard

We got word today that Bruce's brother, Richard from Lexington, KY passed away this afternoon.  We're waiting to hear about arrangements to see how Bruce can make it to his funeral.  We had planned our trip this winter so we would stop and see him in the spring on our way home.  Rest in peace, Richard and our thoughts are with you Maryann.

New Trail

Bruce found another 14 mile bike trail up in Northern Orlando.  Yesterday we drove up to check it out and I got a 27 1/2 mile ride in and Bruce got a 29 mile ride.  Nice trail.

Thought of Bryce - there was a criterion race going on in one of the areas we rode by.

 Nice wide trails.

This trail had underpasses (2) under the major roads instead of bridges over them.

Today we went back to Lake Conway for another paddle.  Managed to find some areas we hadn't seen before.  It started out cool (low 60's) but ended up warmer (low 70's) before we ended around noon.

Why is your jacket still on Bruce?  It has warmed up!

 My jacket is off!

This was on someone's lawn.  Certainly not my taste but interesting!

The bushes are flowering!

More nice days & more fun!

Yesterday (in the afternoon when it warmed up some) we went back to the Cady Trail and started where we ended the last ride and rode to Oveido.
Bruce & I got separated.  How do you lose someone on a bike trail!!??  But we reconnected.

Another bridge over a main highway.

This morning we went back to see the Lincoln's before they returned home this afternoon.
Barb & I payed some miniature golf at the resort they are at.

She kicked my butt!

This afternoon Bruce & I went for another paddle on Lake Tibbett.

Saw a racoon down by the water.

 Saw lots of Ospreys.

More big homes.

I hadn't been in the hot tub for a few days so I took advantage of that when I returned!  Nice day!
