Myrtle Beach short stay

We spent just a few days back here in Myrtle Beach - trying to delay our returning to the north country.
It has been cool here these last few days here but Sunday we fit a nice bike ride in before it  started turning cold.
Monday evening we met up with Dianne & Marty and went out to Biminis Oyster Bar for dinner.  They are in the area golfing.
Today I went for my last walk on the beach until December and then spent a little time in the hot tub.
Tomorrow we head out early to meet up with Darren, Trish, Noah & Eli in Beltsville.  Looking forward to seeing the grandsons but not looking forward to the cooler weather (they got snow up there today!)  Hopefully we can make it through DC before afternoon rush hour!

Looks cold, doesn't it?  Actually just a bit windy.  Nice walk though!

Ready to head out tomorrow morning

We are packed and ready to move onward tomorrow morning.  Going to Myrtle Beach for a few days.
The last couple of days here have been absolutely beautiful.  Sunny & warm.

Last week we did a bike ride on a new trail in Carrolton.  It was a short trail and we needed to extend our ride onto some other roads but the trail was nice and will be nice when completed.

Bike rack at a bike stop alone the way.

Earlier in the stay I posted a picture of some trees starting to bud out.  Here are the trees yesterday with more color on them.

These flowering white trees are in bloom all over the place!

A really nice 2 weeks.  Bruce's favorite place!
Hope spring comes soon as we travel northward!

Cooler weather

The last couple of days have been cooler.  Yesterday Bruce went for a 30 mile bike ride (started out with a light rain).  I opted for a walk!  Bruce enjoyed his ride.  He was able to ride a little faster without me and I had a nice walk.
Late this afternoon we went for a paddle on the lake.  It was cool (low 50's) but there was no wind (not much sun either!)
Earlier this afternoon I baked chocolate chip cookies and took them over to the front desk area - Bruce's idea!

Community Theater

It was a rainy day today so we went to the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center to see "Annie Get Your Gun" performed by the Carroll County Community Theatre.  What a great show.  Music and sets were wonderful and it made for a very pleasant afternoon.  Will have to keep this in mind each year when we come.  A lady at the library told Bruce about it yesterday.

Another nice day

As friends back home prepare for another snow storm and we prepare for a rainy day here, we enjoyed 2 absolutely beautiful days!

Yesterday we did another bike ride.

 Farms dot the countryside.

Today we again kayaked the lake that is right outside our door.

Trees budding - will take a picture next week to see their progress!

Lunch on the screened patio is wonderful.

Doing what I do best - playing computer games - nice to be able to sit on patio to play!

Spring is springing!

We arrived in GA yesterday.  We knew our accommodations would not be ready yet so we did a 22 mile bike ride in Carrolton.  This is Bruce's favorite place to be.  He has been looking forward to this all winter!
Spring is showing up.  Daffodills are blooming along the roadside.

Riding the hills of Carrolton County.

Today was a beautiful day in Villa Rica at Fairfield Plantation.
We paddled around the lake.  I wussed out at 2 1/4 hours.  Bruce kept going for an additional 30 minutes.
Trees are budding.  Look at that blue sky!

Lunch in our kayaks.

More daffodills.
Spent much of the afternoon sitting on our screened patio, enjoying the sun.
Life is great.

More pictures from Destin

Pictures from Destin that didn't get posted.

Sign in Margaritaville "The luckiest fishing village in the world" - not for us!!
Margaritas were good though!

Guy on stilts (in Margaritaville) making a balloon something for a young person nearby.

Mark, on the beach.

Mark & Doreen, enjoying the sand instead of snow!

Sailboat cruises by our balcony.

Pirateship cruises by our balcony.

Getting ready for the ribbon cutting ceremony for Jacacudas - a restaurant that just opened up - we overlooked it.

Bike path along a beach area.  Did get a little riding in.

Had a good time - as you can see, we enjoyed our balcony views and especially enjoyed our time with Mark & Doreen.  But they got to go back and play in the snow and play with Trey!

Harbor fun

It was fun walking around the Harbor.  They had some fun picture opportunities getting ready for Mardi Gras week-end

 Mark & Doreen

 Marilyn & Bruce

At the yacht sales dock we watched as they got ready to lift a boat out of the water.
 The lift.

 Mark & Bruce watch.

 Lift moves into place.

 Almost ready.

 Boat drives onto lift.

 Up...

 Up...

 Up.

 Lift wheels boat away.

 Pelicans on the dock.

Picture of the area.  We are at the base of the bridge on the right hand side.

Mardi Gras Celebrations

Mardi Gras was celebrated on Sat. with a parade down Harbor Walk.  It was fun because we could watch it right from our balcony and missed the crowds.  What a beautiful day for it!
This little train ran all week-end giving children rides.

Sitting on the balcony waiting for the parade to start.

Small street band performs before the parade.

Person on stilts.

Some of the crowd.  Confetti floating around after being shot out.

Honor guard leads the way.

One of many floats.

And of course the Shriners were there.

Another float.  Most were pretty pathetic!

Stilt man comes back again.

My favorite - the belly dancers!  They had plenty of belly to shake!

"Old" ladies doing a step dance.  Dianne, you need to get a group to go to local parades!!
