Hot tub time

Just came back from the hot tub by the indoor pool.  This time of year, it is like having my own private hot tub!  My body sure loves the hot water.

Sunny & Cool

It has been sunny but in the high 40's the last couple of days.  Yesterday we did another bike ride.  Our resort is about 2 1/2 miles from Fort Macon so we rode there first and then rode the other direction on the island.

It has been windy though - had to strap the tarp on the trailer down a little better...afraid it might blow off!

Today I did another beach walk - think it is helping my knees!

 Not foggy today - could actually see the pier - couldn't see it the other day until I got real close!

Just to let all my friends know I was thinking about you on my walk - thought some of you might be skiing while I was walking the beach!

Didn't go kayaking today because of the wind so Bruce made some brown bread and I made chocolate chip cookies!  Also went to the choral concert at the local high school.  Awesome!

Good day

It was foggy out this morning but in the 60's so I got a nice walk on the beach in before the rain came in the afternoon.

This afternoon it rained so I colored my hair, painted my toenails and baked a ham & scalloped potatoes.  This evening we went to a holiday band concert at a nearby high school.

Atlantic Beach

Arrived in Atlantic Beach, NC yesterday.  Luckily we didn't have any of the icing that was predicted in VA when we left.  Travels were rainy and it was quite cool here but today it was warmer & sunny.  We got in a 20 mile bike ride in the morning before lunch.  It was foggy here but we started our ride in Beaufort and the fog had lifted there.  Staying in the same resort we have stayed in the last 3 years.  Rooms are bright with a nice view of the beach.

A Good Week

We've had a good week here.  Weather warmed up so bike riding & kayaking were pleasant.

 We did a paddle on Powhatan Creek on Thurs.  It had rained briefly before we went so there was a fog on the water.  Muscles were more ready to work so we paddled for 2 hours.

Yesterday the temps got up into the 70's so we were able to get a bike ride in before lunch.

We got the trailer loaded up and bikes in the car that afternoon since today was supposed to be cold & rainy.

Tomorrow we head to North Carolina.  Hopefully the ice pellets predicted for here will be over before we leave!

Kayak

Today, Bruce & I did a 1 hour paddle from College Park access.

Could tell we hadn't been kayaking in a while.  1 hour was plenty for arm & shoulder muscles.

We liked the paddle we did in another area last year better.  If weather is nice on Thurs., we'll go back to that one.  Saw some blue herons, and ducks and a few big houses. but otherwise scenery was kind of dull and there was lots of traffic noise.

Bike ride delayed

Woke up at 7:40 am this morning - record sleep in!!
Today was house cleaning day so we decided to do a bike ride while things were being cleaned. Started riding about 11:00 this morning.  Got a couple miles down the road and Bruce's back tire went flat.  I rode back to resort and got car to go pick him up.  Brought bike back and decided to run a couple of errands and then have lunch at local grocery store (yummy paninis).  Came back to resort and our unit was cleaned.  Bruce repaired tire - it had a nail in it and we resumed our ride.  Nice 20 miler today - I hadn't been on my bike in a long time.  This is the 3rd bike ride Bruce has done here.
